Perth Hobby Centre now in Osborne Park

Barry Bryant / James Bowler of Perth Hobby Centre write:

As you may be aware Perth Hobby Centre has been forced to move out of the shop we had in Murray Street and relocate to Osborne Park, so the past month has been a bit hectic for us. Anyway we are now in and the shop is open for business.

We have also been busy on another front and have secured a premium dealership with Southern Rail Models and have placed orders for the iconic Western Australian HO model the L Class Diesel.

Also … the 20% relocation sale has become a 20% opening sale, so for the next couple of weeks at least there is 20% off everything in the store, except where special prices (such as boxes of track) already apply.

Operating Nights Revival

P1060413

At the general meeting 2 days ago, we discussed how to make the club more fun and to try and get more members coming down more often to be involved. One intiative we have agreed on is to revitalise the operating nights on the 4th Wednesday of each month.

We are kicking off these revitalise operating nights next week (26th March) as follows:

  • Earlier start time: meet at 7pm for a 7:30pm start time
  • Briefing and questions in the first half hour (with complimentary cakes and snacks provided by the club) in that first half hour
  • Strong encouragement for all members present on the night to be involved — even from other scales — especially committee members

So come on down, get involved and lets have some fun! 🙂

BHP Billiton Model Donated

BHP Model

The club is delighted to accept the donation of a very nice model of a North-West construction camp from BHP Billiton Iron Ore that is now surplus to their requirements. The model is approximately 1:100 scale — close enough to HO 1:87 for us to be able to make good use of virtually everything on our main HO Gunyidi layout.

The model has been very professionally produced and the WAMRC gratefully acknowledges BHP Billiton Iron Ore for donating this model to the club.

Silent Auction

silent-auction

The club will hold a Silent Auction on the night of the General and Annual General Meetings (17th July).

The items for sale are club stock which are no longer required for club running nights.

For sale will be various American outline locomotives and rolling stock.

A reserve price of $10 for powered items (i.e. locos — whether running or not) and $5 for non powered item (i.e. wagons, passenger cars or anything else) applies.

Come one, come all — and bring cash!

Is that the time?!

New clock

The clubrooms have a new BIG clock — now easily read from anywhere in the main layout room. It has a flat glass cover which doesn’t result in light reflections like the old small clock which made it hard to read.

Free to the club — saved from a rental house clear out where it was destined for the tip!
