The November general meeting will be held in two weeks time: Wed. 18th November, 8pm in the clubrooms. Minutes from the September general meeting are now available on the members’ page.
Also, the club Christmas party will be held on Saturday 5th December. A running afternoon is planned (from about 2pm) followed by the usual BBQ from 5pm (BYO meat and drinks, everything else supplied). Friends and family are welcome too!

The 2008 Annual General Meeting will be held in two weeks at the clubrooms on Wednesday 16th July 2008, from 8pm. All members should have received formal notice of the meeting (or it is in the post). Minutes from the last AGM are available on the members page. (Send me an e‐mail if you have forgotten the user‐name/password needed to access the members page.)
This year we have two nominees for the position of President, so there will be a secret ballot held at the meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting in person, but would still like to vote, please let me know as soon as possible so I can send you a postal ballot form.
Also note that the public layout roster for August 08 — January 09 is now also available on the members page (thanks Peter!). The membership register has also been updated.

The date for RailFest 2008 has been announced — Sunday 12th October. Mark it in your diaries. The image above was taken at RailFest 2004 and shows ARG’s loco number 3107 (ex‐L258) — one of a number of locos visiting the museum on that day for RailFest. More pictures from past RailFests can be found in the gallery.
In sad news, our condolences are passed on to long time past member Ray Cooper on the death of his wife Margaret after an extended illness.

It’s that time of year again — less than four weeks until the AGM. So that means we need nominations for committee positions. Download the Committee Nomination Form 2008, complete it and get it back to the Secretary by Wednesday 25th June 2008.
The membership list on the members page has been updated with our recent new members, so be sure to grab a copy and update your records. The club now has over 40 members — first time for a while!
Also in news, the Albany Model Railway Association are holding the Albany Hobby Expo again this year over the middle weekend of the October school holidays. The N‐Scale boys at the club are keen to exhibit and are planning to take down Weepy Junction — with a new station module and hidden fiddle yard. The image above is of a test track plan — using a plastic lid as a turntable substitute!

Also a reminder that the next general meeting is tomorrow night at 8pm.

It was with sad regret that we said “farewell” to member Irv Woolley at the general meeting held on the 23rd January 2008. Irv has been a member at the club for nearly three years, joining the club shortly after emigrating to Australia from the UK. In that time he has proven himself to be enthusiastic and a valuable member of the club and committee, but sadly he is now moving back to the UK for personal reasons. Although he plans to remain an outreach member of the club and will still drop in whenever he is back in Perth, obviously it will be a while before we see him again.
All the best Irv, and we hope the rain in England doesn’t get you down too much!
Here are some more pictures from his last meal at the “West Australian Model Railway Gentlemen’s Club”:
