Midland Workshops Heritage Day, Sunday 8th September
Experience a taste of Western Australian history at the FREE Midland Railway Workshops Heritage Day on Sunday 8 September from 10am to 4pm.
Take a journey through the most intact example of an early 20th century railway workshop anywhere in Australia, where steam locomotives, carriages, wagons, tracks, signals and station furniture were constructed and maintained until 1994.

The Midland Workshops Auction will take place on Tuesday 10 September. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to take home a piece of WA’s industrial heritage. Auction items can be inspected at the Heritage Day and on Monday 9 September.

Station Masters of Western Australia
Jeff Austin (member of Rail Heritage WA and co-author of Rails Through the Bush) has written a book detailing another aspect of the railway history of Western Australia. This one is called Station Masters of Western Australia and is certainly a definitive review of the subject.
The book will be officially launched by Martin Whitely (MP) at 11am at RailFest 2011 on Sunday 16th October, and Jeff will be on hand to sign copies. It is available for pre-order now from Rail Heritage for $22 — a discount of over 25% over the regular cover price of $29.50:

RailFest 2010
RailFest is on again!
Sunday 31st October 2010, 10am ‑5pm, FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. Tours of the Museum, activities for kids, sausage sizzle and much more.
This is a fun filled day for rail enthusiasts, the community and families. Explore grand steam and diesel locomotives, wander around the Exhibition Hall. Visit the Model Railway. Get a taste of the history of Railways in Western Australia collected and restored by passionate volunteers since 1959. Plenty of fun for the kids and so much more!
